HouseHold Tips

1. Remove Fridge Odours
- Soak cotton ball in vanilla or place an open box of baking soda on lower shelf of fridge

2. Sharpen Old Scissors
- Cut across neck of glass bottle

3. Prevent Colour Spillage
- Add a teaspoon of salt to pail of water and soak new coloured clothes overnight. Rinse out and wash off the next day. This will prevent colour runs and stains on other clothes.

4. Rust Removal
- Stick knives/forks into an onion and rub them against the onion before washing

5. Soften Brown Sugar
- Place a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it

6. Remove Odours
- To remove the smell of perspiration from clothes, dip them in half a bucket of water to which 3-4 aspirin tables have been added. Leave for a couple of hours and the smell will vanish.

7. Remove Bleach Smell from Hands
- Rub a little vinegar or lemon juice between your hands and rinse

8. Iron Out Stubborn Wrinkle on Shirt
- Wrap an ice cube in a clean cloth and rub it over the wrinkle just before ironing

9. Ensure Freshness in an Open Milk Powder Tin
- Lay a piece of aluminium foil under the plastic cover. This would ensure that the tin is air-tight while keeping out ants and other insects.

10. Clean Chopping Board
- Scrub surface of chopping board with salt. Rinse off with warm water. This removes stains and odour from chopping board.

11. Remove Candle Wax from Candle Stand
- Place candle stand in a deep freezer for 1 hour. This will allow the wax to chip off more easily.

12. Undo a Stuck Pants Zipper
- Rub the stuck zip with a bar of soap or spray it with shaving cream. Zip should open easily thereafter.
